MISSION

The research team that started this activity aims to contribute to improve the safety for the static of the structures.The actual idea of “comfort” is much related and connected to the “aesthetic” and the “living” conditions of an environment, and often the “structure safety” is forgotten and neglected, until the “load conditions” change and some damage (if not worst) could happen. Typical situation appears in the ageing of the structures, or in sudden environmental and natural disasters. For instance, a typical strong earthquake can happen every 30 or 40 years, making people forgetting the far in the time event. Considering the actual technology power of the electronics, the miniaturization of the components, the develop of the sensors, we can look at the house trying to get from it the equivalent information that we have today from a car, that is equipped with any kind of sensors and alarms, showing the information on a very appealing dashboard. The Moni2BSafe teams designed and realized several devices in order to pursue the “safety” for the structures. Most of the devices related to the new construction, being easier to embed in a new structural element the sensors, but several applications also in existing as well as monumental structures have been studied and considered. For that, specific and tailored solutions could be found upon request.
